Guidelines for hot rolling cylinders

Guidelines for hot rolling cylinders

Guidelines for hot rolling cylinders

(OP)
Is there a published guideline for preheat and maintaining heat during the hot-rolling process of steel plate based upon plate thickness? We are switching from cold rolling to hot rolling of A516 Gr 70  and need a starting place for the temperature we should maintain during the hot rolling process.  Don't want any proprietary information, just industry standards and general knowledge.  References to trade publications and ASME documents are welcome also. Thanks, Awol

RE: Guidelines for hot rolling cylinders

awol;
Basically, for pressure vessel steel forming the desired hot working temperature is between 1600-1800 deg F followed by re-heat treatment (normalizing).
