Hi

Is Titanium Grade 12 (Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni) be used at -40C application. The material is used as a shell for a heat exchanger. During de-compression we may experience temperatures reaching -40C

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

RE: Titanium Grade 12

Mrinet;
Yes, this Grade of Ti is suitable for low temperature service
based on ASME Section VIII, Div 1 Section UNF-65. For Ti material (like ASME SB-265), the material can be used to -75 deg F or -59 deg C.
