PSV in the turbine exchaust line

Dear all ..

Can any one tell me ?... what code sholud be following in the steam exchaust line PSV. this is has been designed for blocked outlet conditions...... the turbine is back pressure turbine... the inlet is HP steam and Outlet is LP steam...

RE: PSV in the turbine exchaust line

I believe that you can just use the steam equation in API 520 Section 3.7 to size the PSV orifice, taking the maximum operating turbine steam feed for the load W (lb/hr).

I'm not 100% certain, though. It would be great if someone with more experience could comment.

thnak you .. i'm asking that th ePSV has to be designed as per ASME 1 or ASME VIII ?

RE: PSV in the turbine exchaust line

Process879, as far as I know it is ASME VIII, but the best is to read through the scope section of ASME I and make sure.

RE: PSV in the turbine exchaust line

Process879,

You can confirm with your mechanical or vendor which design code the turbine has been designed for. The design code could be ASME VIII, JIS, GB, DIN, etc...Your overpressure protection system shall be designed to fulfill requirement stated in the design code.
