AC Link Technology
AC Link Technology
(OP)
Has anyone any information on this Technology , It is being marketed as being a zero harmonic incredibly small footprint Variable speed drive. It is difficult to find any detailed info on the net, has anyone used this drive or have info on it

I had a quick look at the circuit and thought, "Oh, it's just a current fed, line commutated thyristor inverter". Reading through the PDF it appears that they are doing something different. I'm going to have to print this one out and go through the document to try and figure out what they are doing. I hate reading a PDF on a screen. I can't see, at the moment how they are firing the thyristors quickly, but hopefully after a decent read it'll make sense.

Interesting though, I will say that..

Gee, I love electonics. Look at a standard type circuit, up the speed of switching an order of magnitude or two and it works completely differntly.
I'd ove to get hold of one of these and get the scope working around the circuit. I cannot work out why the input capacitors are required in the circuit - unless it is for bi-directional working.
Will be interesting to see whether this ever gets to commercial production.
Their claim that there is no DC link seems to old water as well.
