Anybody know of a way to combine multiple geometric symbols into a single line within the Geometric Tolerancing box.

Do you mean to do a composite position tolerance where you have two levels of tolerances and datum references with a single position callout?  Or do you mean position and below it perpendicularity?  Both are possible.

Joe, the short answer to this is to create your own, then save it as an annotation to reuse. I don't believe what you are trying to do is a standard in SW.

The longer answer is that these symbols aren't often used together, as in most cases either the position or the concentricity defines a boundary that covers both cases. This happens when you specify a modifier, like maximum material condition, for the position tolerance. The modifier isn't normally used for concentricity.

That said, I'm not claiming to be an expert in applying GD&T, but I've seen a lot of incorrect symbols on prints from our customers, causing confusion in interpretation.

I hope this helps, but double check my advise - or someone here can confirm or correct my comments.

I don't think that is a standard. If I were to make that part, I would know which way to go. I suggest go by the regular standard instead of reinventing it.

This is what I was expecting to hear when I saw what they wanted to put on the print, but I figured I'd ask anyway, it tends to keep people off my back. Thanks for confirming what i was already thinking guys.

Yeah, I'm with TheTick, never seen anything like that before with the concentricity and position rolled in one frame.

If purchasing wants to save money they should read ASME Y14.5M-1994 5.12.1 The Note at the end. Mostly the last sentence. "...it is recommended that a .... .... runout tolerance or a positional tolerance."

I'm about as far from understanding the minutiae of GD&T, but can a concentricity constraint have more than one datum?  How can the same two datum surfaces be used for true position and for concentricity?

If concentricity was added, the machine shop and inspection would probably call and question what exactly is wanted. The cost of the part would probably go up also.

      Unless one is designing high speed turbine parts, one should use run out or total run out. Case and point, when I started working here all our parts that needed roundness called out Concentricity. I watched the machinist check for concentricity on a part. He put the part in the lathe and touched it with a dial indicator, then moved the indicator as he rotated the part. He checked total run out not concentricity. Now all our drawings call for total run out.
      The reason this was happening was because no one here understood GD&T.
