Siemens CP314 RS-485 Comm's card power supply

Hello all

Those who have experience with this module, does it require an external DC power supply or is it powered from the chassis backplane?

There are terminals on the front of the module that appear to be power supply but the documentation is misleading as to what these are for. Are they for:

1) Primary power supply for the module
2) Secondary power supply, with the backplane as primary, in a kind of redundant arrangement
3) Just an external power supply fed directly from the backplane to power other devices

I just love the siemens factor.

Thanks guys

Michael
