I am trying to expand the material library for soildworks right. This is so when we build our components we can run a non-linear analysis on it. But in order to do this we need to get the stress strain curves for a lot of different materials. We have our own force tester to do the testing on the material we are using. I was just wondering if there is a site that will tell me the stress strain curves for a lot of materials or if I can determine the maximum diameter that could be use on each material to do my own force testing?

I really would like to do my own Stress Strain curves any way just so that I know they are accurate. So any equations that I can use to determine the max diameter would be helpful.

I already have UTS=(Maximum Force)/(Cross-sectional Area) but I don't know the UTS for a lot of the materials.

In other words I need help!

You need to obtain ASTM E 8/ E8M.  This standard explains how to perform tensile testing, including the proper terminology, etc.  I strongly discourage you from performing your own tensile testing if you have not obtained this standard or at least read a comprehensive reference on the subject.  The websites for major equipment manufacturers like Instron and MTS have good information that can be downloaded.  Many university professors now have their lecture notes available for download, and these could be helpful as well.  Use the following link to obtain the ASTM standard:
