Flitch plate beam design help

Flitch plate beam design help

(OP)
I am new to the flitch plate design process and need the expertise of the board.
I am designing a flitch plate for a residential addition with 2-(1-3/4") LVL's and a 1/2" steel plate in the middle. The span is 17.5 feet, with only a second floor load at 4900 lbs.
I need help determining the transformed section properties and the capacity. I know this combination will work, but everything I have tried won't confirm it. I'm sure I'm making a small mistake but just can't find it......
Is there a design example I can follow, or shareware that will compute this for me? I would really like to determine it long hand without the software, but maybe use the software as a check.
I don't plan on doing many of these-- if any ever again, but I do need to get this one done to get the addition going.

Any and all help is GREATLY appreciated!!!
