Bending Round Bar

Bending Round Bar

Can anyone advise what bend radius should be used for 16mm diameter round bar?

Are there any issues with cracking / materials that need to be considered?

Thanks

RE: Bending Round Bar

I believe this will depend upon the material properties of the bar. For instance, for higher strength material you need a larger bend radius to prevent cracking.

RE: Bending Round Bar

Heating either prebend or post stress will allow tighter radius bends.

RE: Bending Round Bar

Dont know if this is of any help but the British Standard gives minimum bending radius of 2D for mild steel and 3D for high yield for 6-20 mm rebar

Thanks to all for the quick response.

Are the 2D and 3D figures for hot or cold bending?
