Coping views between drawings

Coping views between drawings

Coping views between drawings

(OP)
I have several drawings that I need to copy the views from one drawing to another. The parts are the same but with different part numbers. Is there a way to copy and then relink the drawing views to the new models?

Thanks

RE: Coping views between drawings

Use File -> Save As... (do this with the part and drawing open).

You can now save the part and drawing with a new part number. All the drawing views, dimensions, notes, etc will stay intact.

Also, if the part is used in an assembly (and the assembly is open when you do the save as) the assembly will reference the new part number. You may or may not want the assembly to reference the new number, so take care which parts you have open when you perform the 'save as'.
