Bolted elevated tank versus welded elevated tank

Bolted elevated tank versus welded elevated tank

Bolted elevated tank versus welded elevated tank

(OP)
Does anyone have experience with bolted elevated water tanks (bolted steel tank with concrete pedestal) from Aquastore?

We are constructing a new water storage tank and are trying to decide between an elevated tank with manufactured glass-fused-to-steel panels bolted together set on a concrete pedestal.

The alternative is a traditional welded steel tank.

The bolted tank costs less, but it's longevity is an issue since they've only been around since the 1970s. But the coating seems to last longer.

Any information would be helpful.

RE: Bolted elevated tank versus welded elevated tank

Not seen much difference in price, but would expect the welded tank to be a little less expensive.

Welded tank coating last for about 7-10 years for the standard coating system. If you upgrade to a better coating, then you can figure 15-18 years coating life. The bolted tank will probably last longer. However, the bolted tank coating is not as easy to repair.

The difference between the two tanks probably comes down to personal preference in the way the tanks appear. My personal perspective is that the bolted tanks have a more industrial look to them because of all the bolts. Others may think differently.
