OLGA SIMULATION

OLGA SIMULATION

OLGA SIMULATION

(OP)
Hi, I am starting to use OLGA and I have to learn it by myself... so I need a help!!
I have to simulate the following things:

1. Fill a pipeline that has a very irregular profile (250 km long, 28 inches) with air (can I do it directly with using "Initial Conditions"?).

2. Fill the pipeline with water (I think that air will remain in peaks). How can I estimate the mass flow of the water?

3. Determine the pressure that have to be given to the pig to clean the pipeline.

Do I need the compositional tracking module?

Can you give me any suggestions?

Thank you!!!

RE: OLGA SIMULATION

My best advice is that you really shouldn't be doing this without having taken a basic course or unless you can get help from an experienced collegue.  A course will pay for itself in lost time and possible erroneous interpretation of results.  I'm sure they would also tell you how to start a model full of liquid or gas and a lot of other "tricks".

Sorry I can't be of more help, I don't use OLGA, but I'm sure it must be in the manual.  I can't imagine having a manual and not something like that included.

RE: OLGA SIMULATION

If your campany can afford an OLGA license then i suppose they can also afford the basic course. Ask for a course!

Best regards

Demand!  Its for their own good.

Document the time you take learning by yourself and fixing the buggy input until you get a working model.

Thank you... I will surely ask for a course, it was a kind of emergency...
Can anybody suggest a good course that I can attend in Europe?

Thanks!
