Change Tool Bar Comman Buttons in 08

Change Tool Bar Comman Buttons in 08

Change Tool Bar Comman Buttons in 08

(OP)
Good morning, I was wonder if there is a way to change the command button in the tool bar.  For example the fillet command button and the pull-down arrow, which is chamfer.  Is there a way to reverse that so the Chamfer is the command button and fillet is on the pull-down arrow?  We use chamfer so much more than fillet, so we would like the see the button be chamfer rather than fillet.  There are several others we would like to change, but I have not yet found a way of doinf it.  Thanks in advance for any help.

Assigning a keyboard hotkey is the best way to go.

Adding often used icons to the 'S' shortcut is also a good alternative.

With a combination of keyboard shortcuts and S key, some people have have almost eliminated the need for the Command Manager.

cheers

Thanks for the response and I did think about that but there are at least a half dozen button I want to switch around to speed things up.  I was thinking that after the buttons where witched then assign a couple of hot keys to the really heavily used commands.

Yes you can.
Here are the steps:
1. Right-click on the "Features" tab of the Command Manager.
2. Select "Customize CommandManager..."
3. Select "Menus" tab.
4. Under "Categories" in left pane, select "Insert".
5. In right pane you will see "Features" with "Fillet/Round" and "Chamfer" under it.
6. Select Chamfer, below you will see "Position on menu" with a drop-down to the right. Change the drop down to "top".

You now have the menu how you want it.2thumbsup

Use the Copy Settings Wizard to save the settings then import them to other users.

Thanks ctopher for the response.  I tried it and after I clicked the OK nothing changed and I went back in and the chamfer was back on auto.  I must be missing something here.  Thanks.

OH, now I see what it is doing, it is putting a new button in the top menu that slides out and then pulls down, but nothing happens to the command button that is in the tool bar.  Maybe that cammand button can not be changed and it is time for an enhancement request again.

RE: Change Tool Bar Comman Buttons in 08

Odd.
It is hit and miss for me now. This morning it saved it, I came back in it was there. I closed the part, reopened and it was back to auto. It has worked in the past. I think there is a bug. I sent it in to SolidWorks just now.

Thanks for that one, I thought I was losing my mind for a minute.  It would be nice if you could just drag the chamfer to the top or had a command to move up or move down.  Hopefully SW will fix it sometime soon.

add a shortcut or keystroke and you're set and it'll be even faster.

Thanks for the response, but I think we will wait for the bug to get fix and then do it right and then select the the most used feature and make them keystrokes.

RE: Change Tool Bar Comman Buttons in 08

What I did was remove the dropdown altogether for chamfer/fillet from command mgr & put the individual buttons there for each. Seems like I did that for a couple of other commands too.
It's just what I was used to & it works for me.

Thanks for the idea RipV, I might try that till the the bug is fixed.
