TEMA CODE MAX. ALLOWABLE INTERNAL PRESSURE SA 179 2 1/2 " OD??

TEMA CODE MAX. ALLOWABLE INTERNAL PRESSURE SA 179 2 1/2 " OD??

(OP)
I need to know the maximum allowable internal pressure for SA 179 2 1/2" OD Flus Tubes in order to determine the proper gauge ( BWG ) for 250 psi internal pressure.I also need to know all the comercial BWG for 2 1/2" OD

I get TEMA but is very old and the biggest tube there is 2" OD.

If somebody gets a more recent version of TEMA Code... please help me

Thanks in advance

Gus

RE: TEMA CODE MAX. ALLOWABLE INTERNAL PRESSURE SA 179 2 1/2 " OD??

Ola Gustavo,

Ther minimum wall thickness is determined as per ASME VIII UG-27 and you'll expect some 0.017" thickness for the 250 psi pressure. The available gauges for your tube are listed on the manufacturer's sale list, one of them speaks spanish, refer link below. Please note that TEMA recommends some standard gauges, but does not exclude using any other available gauges, provided compliance with the Code (ASME VIII).

Thanks gr2vessels.

Everything you told me is right but I already did it. Only need to know what gauges are available for SA 179 2 1/2" and this information must be according TEMA Code that`s why I ask information about maximum allowable internal pressure vs gauges.

I can`t recommend one tube that is not available because it is not a standard product.

Thanks again

Gus
