Doesa anybody know how to judge the transmission voltage level ?

Doesa anybody know how to judge the transmission voltage level ?

Doesa anybody know how to judge the transmission voltage level ?

(OP)
Does anybody know if possible by only looking at the number of the insulators on the transmission tower can roughly tell the voltage level. for example, based on the number of the insulator we can tell the transmission tower is for 66kV,138kV or 230kV. 500kV is easy to tell with the bundled conductors

Of Course, there are many ways to tell the differences of towers of different voltage level.
Thanks in advance!

RE: Doesa anybody know how to judge the transmission voltage level ?

I have this table, but it's not true all the time.

Voltage (line-line)       # insulator
69 kV                        4
120 kV                       7
160 kV                       9
230 kV                       12
315 kV                       16
735 kV                       33

There was a long discussion on this forum a couple of months ago on this.  Might try a search.

Bundled doesn't mean 500kV.  I've seen single conductors at 500kV and bundles at 230kV.

Many Thanks Tem1234, dpc and davidbeach!
You are right. Maybe I mislead people, four bunled conductor are most likly 500kV but not all 500kV lines are four bundled conductors.
In the company I work we have two bundled conductor for 66/138kV short lines.

To summarize the othe thread, which was very good if you havent read it yet, it all depends on where you live. Every area has thier own rules of thumb because of environmential factors (Humidity, weather, elevation)
