Talk to Stan Hall at EAA Chapter 62, he is their technical counselor, he is a retired engineer who has worked for Lockheed, Northrop, and others when aircraft were still built commercially from wood, and has forgotten more about designing wooden aircraft structures than most people know.

Hi amorrison :

If you are looking for K factors and another thinks about wood aircraft structures, check ANC-18 "DESIGN of AIRCRAFT STRUCTURES". It ANC Bulletin may help you ( 250 plus pages ).

Cheers !

That document is hard to find these days. There are some people selling it on EBay for around $30 to $40. I am posting a link to a discussion group where it can be downloaded as a PDF for free. Bear in mind it is 250 pages, so it is a long download on a dial-up modem.
