surface models in drawings

When i create a drawing, all my belts which are surface models do not show up. Is there any way for surfaces to be visable in drawings?

Thanks
Matthew

RE: surface models in drawings

I have also had this problem when i have imported autocad files into Inventor. They are fine in the model but disappear when put into a border. If its just a line that represents the belt try adding a thickness and extruding it. Otherwise RMB on the surface file in the feature tree and click copy to constuction. Expand the construction group that appears at the top and RMB on the surface you want as a solid and select copy object
Then select and copy the object as a solid. Delete the files that are no longer needed
Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt but worth a try

RE: surface models in drawings

To get surfaces to show up in idw of iam right click on the part node in the idw browser and select Include Surfaces.

right clicking the part worked. Is there a way to set it as a document stadard. Theres quite a few belts, and I have to right click each one, in every view.

Thanks

RE: surface models in drawings

Why not create the belts as solids and avoid the problem?

most of the belts are taken from autocad. I can simply copy and paste the belt path, but because its just a line path, I can only extrude it as a surface.

RE: surface models in drawings

Offset the belt path the thickness of the belt and extrude. then you have a solid

But to answer your question no you can't set that on a mass document level. Its view by view

RE: surface models in drawings

Thicken the extruded surface.

ahh.. thicken the surface, good thinking!

thanks
