Thread Tables - NX5

For NX5, we now have the new XML tables, and the old DAT files.

If we consider the DAT file for an M10-1.5P, the Tap Drill Diameter is 8.7822. Now for the XML file, we have three entries for an M10-1.5P, one each for the different "Radial Engage" values. Which in turn, offers differing Tap Drill Diameters ... 8.5 and 9.0 (Now why the DAT and XML files don't use a common diameter is another question).

So, if I want to customize the XML file to use 8.7822, do I simply edit the "RadialEngage=Custom" line ? And then to subsequently prevent someone using one of the other two (incorrect) options do I remove them from the XML file ?

RE: Thread Tables - NX5

You know what I don't know the answer to that but I guess that they solution would be a simple as backing up the files before you make the changes. Then let us know what the answer was because it would be something you're going to have to test for yourself anyway.

Hi Hudson,

Editing the one line and deleting the other two works just fine.

I'm just curious if there's an "offical" approach to working with the XML file. The "Radial Engage" is a strange one as you can edit the Radial Engage value AND the Tap Drill Diameter.
