I am a new graduate working in  a cogen power plant.

I have question to share about water tube boiler (BFB and CFB type), "why filling up sand while running the primary air fan can be done for furnace floor which doest not have refractory.

and if the furnace floor has refractory, the sand must be filled into the furnace first before starting the primary air.

please reply.
