selecting surface nodes in orphan mesh ????

selecting surface nodes in orphan mesh ????

selecting surface nodes in orphan mesh ????

(OP)
Hi,

I have a 3D orphan mesh  which I created from a solid in CAE. To define node- based contacts in my model, I need to select a group of nodes that belong to the orphan mesh and that would have been on a 3D surface of the parent solid before it was orphaned.

However when I am trying to do this using the polygon selection, many nodes in the interior of the mesh ,which I do not want, are getting selected.

Any tips on selecting exterior nodes on one side of an orphan mesh ??

Thanks in advance

Try picking nodes based on angle.

Thanks Gurmeet.

I  tried picking nodes by angle and it seems to be working. Now I would like to exclude some of the nodes that lie on the edge of the solid from the above selected nodes. basically I would like to have "all the surface nodes (which I could pick succesfully using the angle tool u mentioned) minus the nodes that belong to an edge of that 'surface' of the orphan mesh". Any ideas on how I could do this.

Press control key and deselect the nodes one by one.

Thanks so much Gurmeet. That solved the issue completely.
