Duplex Alloy 2204 Heat Hint Removal

(OP)
Is there a non-hazardous removal process, or no removal required, for a Dry Flue Gas Desulfurization (DFGD) Duplex  stainless steel vessel with blue and black heat tint from excessive temperature during welding?

RE: Duplex Alloy 2204 Heat Hint Removal

Not sure of answer to the specific question, but we have seen excessive brittleness of thin wall 2205 welds and very low fatigue life at the weld. If you read the literature by the 2205 vendors, the only situation where pre-heat is recommended is thin wall welding- to avoid a cooldown rate that is too fast to ensure  proper cyrstal formation of ferrite/ austenite mix.
