Bridge ramp

(OP)
I HAVE JUST GOT INVOLVED IN A ON GOING BUILD AND DESIGN PROJECT,THE BRIDGE HAS ALREADY BEEN BUILD NOW THE COMPANY ARE IN THE PROCCESS OF PUTING IN THE RAMP,THIS WAS ACHIVED BY PLACING GRADE 804 IN DEPTHS OF 500MM AND COMPACTING WITH WHACKER PLATE.MY CONCERN IS THE DEPTH FOR COMPACTION IS TO MUCH AND THE COMPACTOR BEEN USED IS TO SMALL, I HAVE ASKED THE QUESTION IF PLATE BEARING TESTS WILL BE CARRIED OUT AND HAVE BEEN TOLD ONLY ONE TEST IS REQUIRE EVERY 50 METERS.

RE: Bridge ramp

I don't know what Grade 804 is, but those lifts are much too thick for a whacker plate on any type of material. Time, traffic and water are likely to bring large settlements. Plate bearing tests may not demonstrate that.
