Drawing a blank here, but could someone help me figure out the surface area difference between smaller and larger spherical beads if I know the bead diameter and bulk density of both the larger and smaller beads?

Number of beads per unit volume will decrease with the cube of the bead diameter.

Surface area of each bead will increase with the square of the bead diameter.

A cube divided by a square is linear....

So, for a constant volume:

Halve the bead diameter = double the surface area.

Quarter the bead diameter = four times the surface area.

Et cetera...

Somebody double-check me, though!

Sounds right, however this assumes that the relevant surface area is the outside area of the beads, not the microporous surface area, which would be a relevant parameter if the beads were e.g. a catalyst.
