Drawing .PDF question

Drawing .PDF question

Drawing .PDF question

(OP)
When I print a .PDF of my drawing with the models in the "shaded with edges" view the border of my .PDF turns very light, nearly gone.  When I print the same drawing with the models in the "hidden lines removed" view the border is correct (dark).  Anyone else have this happen?  Did you find a fix?

Thanks,
BB

RE: Drawing .PDF question

Apparently when shaded views are present in the drawing, the whole drawing will be converted as a bitmap. When no shaded views are present, the drawing is converted with vectors.

CBL - Do you know of a way to prevent this from happening or maybe a simple workaround?

Thanks,
BB

RE: Drawing .PDF question

Only thing I can think of (haven't tried) is to create an image of the shaded view, then delete the view and then import the image as an OLE object.

cheers

RE: Drawing .PDF question

What version of SW?  Newer versions don't convert to all bitmap when printing PDF w/ shaded views.

RE: Drawing .PDF question

Have you tried doing a save-as pdf rather than printing to pdf?  I definitely have noticeably different results when saving as.  Not specifically with your issue, but with my own.

RE: Drawing .PDF question

Not having that problem here.   We only save-as pdf, not sure if that makes a difference.

RE: Drawing .PDF question

If you do a "File > Save As > PDF" under the options you can turn OFF the "Export PDF in color" setting (assuming you are using only black and white).

RE: Drawing .PDF question

I had similar problems but doing what josephv said made all the lines and certain text show up.

ctopher - I have been using the HQ dpi, thanks.

TheTick - I am on 2007 sp 5.0.

ShaggyPE - Your suggestion does the trick, thank you very much.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions but ShaggyPE's suggestion was right on the money.  If I do a "Save As .PDF" then go back and print it, it looks perfect.
