Convective Heat - ASTM C680
Convective Heat - ASTM C680
(OP)
Hi All,
I was going through the ASTM C680 for a calculation of convective heat transfer coefficient. My particular application presently is cylindrical (pipe). However there is this concern of the direction of fluid flow.
I am wondering if somebody knows on which premise the formulars were developed in terms of fluid flow (I mean is the fluid flowing in the pipe axially or outside of the pipe normally to the pipe).
Thanks.

I think that heat from normal flow outside, provided the pipe is fully immersed is no different to heat from inside. Just reverse the equations.
