Concrete Repair in Wastewater Treatment Tanks

Concrete Repair in Wastewater Treatment Tanks

Concrete Repair in Wastewater Treatment Tanks

(OP)
I am doing concrete repair in a wastewater treatment tank containing run-off containing oil and gas and some human waste.  I am having a hard time finding repair mortar for overhead and vertical repairs that will withstand exterior exposure, freeze thaw and sulfate attack. Does anyone know of good repair mortar for exterior concrete wastewater treatment tanks?  Anyone have any advice or pitfalls to watch out for when designing repair of concrete wastewater treatment tanks?

RE: Concrete Repair in Wastewater Treatment Tanks

Call your local BASF rep.

RE: Concrete Repair in Wastewater Treatment Tanks

Check into Five Star Structural Concrete V/O.  I've gotton good reports from the field on the Five Star products that I've specified for repair.

I would contact Sika Corporation (www.sikacostruction.com) they have a range of products for concrete repair. Their local rep. will come out and look at the problem, recommend the product to use and be at the site on the first day for the startup of repairs.  I've always had good luck with them, but they aren't cheap.

I agree with jheidt2543, but the website address is wrong:

Good products, smart and responsive representatives, but as you said, not cheap.  But I think any owner would prefer fixing it once for a little more money, than saving a shilling and having to go back in.

Thanks Jed, my chubby fingers missed a few keys!

I have checked with SIKA.  They don't offer any products that can withstand the wastewater environment.  I thought there might have been another product or company that specializes in the wastewater repair industry or at least produce products for more extreme environments.

fosroc
flexcrete
Irathane futare
do a search on internet for these companies, all deal with wastewater, used all at some stage.

RE: Concrete Repair in Wastewater Treatment Tanks

The Five Star repair product I mentioned above lists "Resistance to Sulfates" as one of it's advantages.  Also, low chloride ion permeability.  I've specified it for wastewater treatment repairs with good results.  V/O stands for vertical and horizontal repair applications.

Polymer concrete.
