No time for PDH - What to do

No time for PDH - What to do

No time for PDH - What to do

(OP)
I've been travelling so much for my company that I just realized I didn't complete my PDH to maintain my Texas PE license.

I've been gone for 70-80% overseas for this last year and I've been so busy (and tired), I've forgotten completly about this requirement.  I usually get this done right away, and the company is good about letting me, but with this travel, I let it slip.

Anybody have any ideas what I can do?

RE: No time for PDH - What to do

Go to PDHOnline or other online providers.  You can get your fifteen hours in two days at reasonable cost and online!!!

Controlnovice,

In Tennessee it's OK to miss 'em as long as you're honest about it.  They give you six months to make 'em up, on request and approval, provided your record is otherwise clean.  Take the online route that MiketheEngineer suggested, I've done that one too.

I don't know Texas rules, but I bet they're similar.  If not, tell 'em they should change it to be like Tennessee.  After all, if it weren't for Tennessee volunteers, there might not be a Texas...

<Note to all Texans:  no offense intended, we wouldn't have it any other way!>

Good on ya,

In your traveling, did you give any training?

Most states let you claim PDH credit for developing and presenting training or educational seminars.

For the hour of ethics, this year I claimed my time reading and participating in the Eng-Tips ethics forum.

A couple of years ago I claimed my time reading the http://www.onlineethics.diamax.com/ website.

You can take care of 5 hours with self-study, so if you've really done 5 hours worth of reading on your own, you only need to get through 10 hours in some online course.  When's your deadline?  I thought they were usually in March and September.

www.ICCcampus.org has several courses dealing with IBC inspection and code enforcment official certifications that grand CEUs.

The best way to test something is to squeeze it, slowly, until it breaks!

I got 3 emergency pdh's taking a 3 hour DVD course I ordered from ASCE.  I was really just a video of a couple college lectures.  It came with some course notes and a test which I had to mail back in order to get the certificate.  It was kind of fun.  You could watch something like this on your laptop during a plane flight.

The states I am registered in will excuse you if your out of the country.  I think the philosophy is your getting PHDs and learning if your on a job in another country.  Check with your board.
