Good morning,

I have been assigned a register for safety related device (registre de securité in french):

Do you know (or do you have any resources that detail) the methodology to perform such a document?

What i know is that i am supposed to detail scenarii, PSV sizing, for all PSVs and operating cases...

Please help

Thanking you in advance.

RE: Help - Register of Safety Related Devices (Registre de sTcuritT)

I assume you are given the task of establishing this register for a plant?

I have never come across the requirement for such a register alone, apart from other normal documentation.

I would list some questions and tasks to be checked out, and go from there:

1. Who are requiring this register, and what purpose or law/regulation/requirement to be fulfilled by this list?

2. Possible solution:
- Identification of each safety device, tag, location, type
- Acting as single safety device or doubling with others
- Way of working
- Protecting what and when
- Installed to what rules/regulations?
- Dimensioning / selecting parameters
- Consequence when released
- Consequence if failure of component
- Connected to control system?
- Warning if failing or released?
- Procedure for test and control with control intervals
- Procedure for restart, replacement after release
- Complete technical description for replacement and spares
- Lead-time for spare components, spares recommended
.. etc.

Could this be something of what you are looking for?

1. Who are requiring this register, and what purpose or law/regulation/requirement to be fulfilled by this list?

- I am working for an engineering company in oil&gas. The client is requiring this item as oart of the deliverables.

2. Possible solution:

- Is it still correct?
- What are the safety devices?

In which case, I would ask the client.  Everyone seems to have their own definition of what is included in an RSRD.

RE: Help - Register of Safety Related Devices (Registre de sTcuritT)

If this is an oil and gas company, normally the requirements for the list will be covered by descriptions given in documents in the inquiry or the contract.

If not, the description will certainly be covered by the oil and gas companys internal rules and documentation.

Ask directly and find the responsible part at your customers side to have a dialogue. Purpose: to do what is asked for (adeqate), but not to overdo to minimize your cost and amount of documentation.

There is probably standard documents or lists originated by the customer to be filled out.

Good luck!

Thank you

And what is the difference between a RSRD and a process safeguarding memorandum (if any)?
