Struggle with Component Array Associativity
Struggle with Component Array Associativity
(OP)
I have an assembly of a printed circuit board component and electrical connector components. NX 5.0.4. I have created a component array and then constrained (positioning constraints) the seed connector and the array adjusts accordingly. But for some reason I am able to go move one of the array components independently and the program lets me. Why arent the array parameters maintained? At this point if I go in and edit the array parameters and do nothing but say ok the array will reset to the correct position. How can I lock it down so that one of the array components can't be moved independent of the seed?

RE: Struggle with Component Array Associativity
However that being said, in the past (prior to NX 5) if you tried to move one of the Components of an Array you at least got a warning telling you that you were violating the intent of the array. It would still let you do it, just that you had at least been warned.
Now there is nothing. I'm going to write a PR against that as I still think we need the warning.

RE: Struggle with Component Array Associativity
Have positioning arrays been re-written in NX-6 to work in any way differently or better using the new assembly constraints rather than mating?
BOP,
I would think the exception may be that the seed component of your array being moved might cause different results. If mated it probably won't move of course.

RE: Struggle with Component Array Associativity
No, there are no changes yet in Component Arrays.
The good news is they work like they always did.
The bad news is they STILL work like they always did.
