13" 52.5# Car Builders Channel - Dimensions Quest
13" 52.5# Car Builders Channel - Dimensions Quest
(OP)
Hello:
I am looking for the dimensions of an old steel shape commonly used during the early part of the 20th century, the 13" 52.5# Car Builders Channel. I have looked in the Bethlehem and Carnegie books, but the furthest back I have date in the thirties and do not list this size. I suspect its use did not continue after about 1920. I especially need the web thickness, but could use all of the general dimensions if anyone has them. Thank you in advance.

Try SlideRuleEra's site. He has a zip file for a 1923 Carnegie Manual

and an 1892 Pencoyd

Monday when I'm back in the office I'll look through the AISC CD with its zillions of shapes.

I'm sorry but I can't find that shape. It's not in the AISC historic database. I also looked in several steel manuals from early 20th Century with no luck.
