I'm new to cad and have a specific problem to figure out.  I imported a jpg picture into solid edge, traced whatever I needed as a sketch, and now need help figuring out what else I need to do so I can save the file (or export it) as a dxf file.  Can anyone give me a few tips.  Thanks.

Logan

RE: jpg to dxf in solid edge

Hi Logan,
File > Save As
then in the filetype box select dxf.
You might need to check/change export settings with the Options button.

Thank you for the response, a few questions still...
dxf files are not listed in my "save as", so are you talking about the options button under "tools"?  I could not find any way to change my export settings in that menu.

Should I have created this part from a solid part, sheet metal or does it matter?  This is a simple 2d logo for someone to burn with a laser.

Thanks again.

RE: jpg to dxf in solid edge

You are trying to create the dxf from a draft aren't you?

From draft environment, save as like Beach says.

Ok, I made the part as a sheet metal piece then saved it as a flat, which converted it to a dxf.  If this doesn't work, I will start from a draft and try again.  Thanks for the support.
