Barrel Nuts
Barrel Nuts
(OP)
I have been tasked to discover the torque requirements for barrel nuts that attach to a MIL-SPEC terminal block 7TB12.
MIL-T-55164/13 and an FSN of 00-502-8473.
The barrel nuts are screwed onto Copper studs.
Each Barrel nut is cylindrical, 0.375" high, 0.235" in diameter, made of Brass.
The Copper stud, onto which it is screwed, is 0.135" in diameter and 0.31" in heigth.
I have scoured many tech manuals and the Web to no avail. I can find everything about the barrel nuts except their torque requirements in a ship-board environment.
Please can anyone help with practical advice or a document reference?
Regards
David

RE: Barrel Nuts
I used to just tell my guys to torque it until they broke off the top of the barrel nut, because that is what they usually do anyway!
RE: Barrel Nuts
Actually I discovered the KULKA site via a different path.
KULKA had just what I wanted. Especially as the torque settings were defined in Nm as well as lb-in.
