D1.3 & Macrophotograph Requirement

D1.3 & Macrophotograph Requirement

D1.3 & Macrophotograph Requirement

(OP)
We are using a GMAW procedure to seal weld a container's sheet metal wall. We had to submit our procedure for review.

We've been asked to submit a copy of the macrophotograph of the weld used in qualifying the procedure. Unfortunately, we did not get it done as we were only using the procedure to weld a few seams of sheet metal.

I've been told that they will grant a deviation if I submit a request. However, I need to know under what conditions does AWS D1.3 require a macrophotograph to be supplied?

Any comments would be much appreciated.

RE: D1.3 & Macrophotograph Requirement

I have been around for a little while and I have to say I have read over the D1.3 and have not be able to find where this is required to give a macro photograph to the client before you have started code is quite clear on other request for things that need to be done before welding it to start but I cannot for the lfe of me find this one... my suggestion would be to write the request for Deviation and go on about you business
