Any sign historians out there?

Any sign historians out there?

(OP)
I got a call today from a NYSDOT maintenance residency about an old sign they found.  How old? It appears to be cast bronze.  I'm told it looks just like the NYS Education Department's historical markers, except it's an intersection warning sign.

Any ideas as to age and/ or original paint scheme would be
appreciated!  I'm thinking pre-WWII at least.
