Pumping Stormwater? Your thoughts and experiences please.

First of all. I don't like the idea, but my state isn't accepting any creative BMP's such as Stormfilters/Baysavers, etc.

The area to treat is a marina. The only BMP acceptable at this time is infiltration. Water table is high, (of course).

The P.O.A. is to capture the first 1.5" runoff and bypass all other flow into the enclosed marina for detention. (The marina is not dredged to the coast. A lift will be used)

Any one have any experience with pumping stormwater? Maintenance issues? Pump issues? Suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

Am I alone in this cruel scenario? Is this the most retarded idea since water magnets?

Since no one has responded...  You could probably design a stormwater pumping system similar to a sanitary system.  They have large stormwater pumping stations in New Orleans.  The Army Corps may have a design guide.  We recently did a half-acre project and could not daylight the dry pond exfiltration trench for drawdown after a storm.  The calculations were the same as for a sanitary pump with a wetwell.  It required about 65 gpm @ 20' of head.  One problem you may run into is increased maintenance due to excessive grit.

Thank you both for the great info.
