UPDATE PARTS LIST

UPDATE PARTS LIST

UPDATE PARTS LIST

(OP)
There are som of us that can place blank balloons then update parts list and the balloons are filled.  There are others that this does not work for.  Is there a setting that needs to be changed for those that this does not work for?

RE: UPDATE PARTS LIST

I would like to find this out too ... I know we used to be able to do this without any problem.

RE: UPDATE PARTS LIST

When using manual ID Symbols in NX2, it is required that the following
variable is set:

    UGII_UPDATE_ALL_ID_SYMBOLS_WITH_PLIST = 1

RE: UPDATE PARTS LIST

The above may simply work, and I would certainly check/try it first.

I never had this problem possibly because it may have been unusual to have installations of NX-2 without that variable set "as shipped". However the thing that did need to be set up were partlists with and ITEM column using the attribute name simply CALLOUT in order for the blank balloon notes to be automatically filled. I would check the origins of where the partlists are draw from to make sure that nothing differs from one machine to another.

Changing the variable worked.  thanks

RE: UPDATE PARTS LIST

You know now that we know it works, when I think about it that variable in NX-2 may have been equivalent to a customer default in later versions. I expect it is found in the ugii_metric.def, or ugii_inches.def files rather than ugii_env.dat. In that case you can probably also tick a box or radio button under the parts list dialogs that toggles the behavior on. As I said I used NX-2 for a while and we never had problems with that kind of thing using the out of the box version, so either the variable is seldom set otherwise or there are other methods that usually prevail. One of these is that people set up drawing formats as templates and have been able to do so for several versions now whereby the parts lists are created and set up to work for you. Such files, and any created from them contain saved settings that are file dependent so if this is you then you may still need to find that tick in the dialogs.

I would check it keeping in mind that it would seem unusual, but it may be the case, that this variable overrides how saved files are set up, whereas mostly they only affect how new files are created.
