Spreadsheet functions

Spreadsheet functions

Spreadsheet functions

(OP)
Hi,

I have a problem with modeling spreadsheet. For example when I want to perform any mass calculation:
=MASS3D(SOLIDS,X,X) it says, that the expression contains error. Is there any reson for that? I think, that it should work and I have done it on another computer before and it worked.
Its version 4 and 5.
Thank you for help
Vit

RE: Spreadsheet functions

Vit,

Two possibilities that I can think of are that either it works in the spreadsheet or it works in the expressions editor. Not necessarily both.

If you're using Excel....?
That isn't any excel formula that I'm familiar with but maybe you can try just nominating the values and perorming that calculation in standalone Excel (i.e. without even starting NX). Then apply the same formula plugging in the field values passed to it when you launch from within NX.

Else....
Does the calculation work in the expressions without using a spreadsheet?

Best Regards

Hudson

RE: Spreadsheet functions

Hudson,

When you launch the Spreadsheet function from within Modeling, the version of Excel that you get will have added to it several special add-ons unique to NX including a function to extract the mass properties of a body so that you can include those values in a cell which can then be referenced however you wish.  Go to the user Documentation and search on 'MASS3D'.

Yes,
I have launched the modeling spreadsheet. I can extract the expressions, I can extract the attributes, but when I want to perform any mass calculation using mass3d function, it says, that there is an error in the expression.

Thanks for the effort... I have found it out. I dont know why, but in the help it is with , and I had it working like this on another computer, but I had to  use ; instead to get it working.

RE: Spreadsheet functions

Vit,

Darned if i don't hate it when you solve your own problems just before providing the model. I'd love to see you example so I can still learn from it. I don't post this stuff for nothing you know I always want to learn from others experience.

Cheers

RE: Spreadsheet functions

You can see what are all the functions that ug includes into modeling spreadsheet or part family spreadsheet by selecting Insert->Function (inside spreadsheet)
and in the dialog select "User defined" from the category dropdown list.
