Esitmating Tool

We are looking for an estimating tool specifically for Electrical utilities station, transmission and distribution lines. We would prefer an all emcompassing program. Any recommendations?

RE: Esitmating Tool

Means Electrical Cost Data http://www.rsmeans.com/costdata/index.asp has some data on transmission, distribution, and substations.  The best method for a utility is to develop a database from actual purchases and actual job crew-hour data.  It will take years to get useful data, but it would be much more accurate that available industry data.

RE: Esitmating Tool

Harv, when you say estimating tool do you mean something to create budgetary estimates or something you can input the major materials, it has labor estimates and the associated minor materials and the output is used to bill customers in advance of job construction (i.e. more accuracy)?

RE: Esitmating Tool

We build this as a table in an Excel spreadsheet based on history of jobs by major item.
