Design Journal Shown at Open

Anyone know if there is a way/setting to make SolidWorks open a document with the design journal showing?  I would like it to be more utilized and made aware of, but even for me, I dont always think to use it.  But Id like it to pop up right away so any important design info that is in there will be presented to any opening it.  I know many will say to make it a disciplined part of our SW people, but to me that's not enough.  Anything?

Thanks

RE: Design Journal Shown at Open

I haven't heard of a solution to this, but it sounds like a great ER for SW.

RE: Design Journal Shown at Open

A workaround would be to add an annotation to the part that says "READ DESIGN JOURNAL!" (or something similar) that is displayed when the part is opened.  No guarantee that the next person to open it will have annotations displayed or will follow this advice, but it's better than nothing.

You could also add a dummy feature to the part that is named "READ DESIGN JOURNAL."  Again, no guarantees.

This could be done fairly easily with an add-in (cue TheTickwinky smile).  It could also be done with a macro.  However, you would have to start the macro as soon as you started SolidWorks.  You can modify the shortcut you use to run SolidWorks to run a macro at startup.

Funny you should say that, handleman!  I tried to post previously, but my post got lost somehow.

I can not find any access to Design Binder documents via API.  I've tried.  I wanted to write an addin that would alert user if the Design Binder had any content.  No luck.

Keep it coming all appreciated and a lot of good input ... as with #5, need input ...

I like the modified shortcut idea Handle, to make it as seamless and automatic as possible.  But I have no idea how to do such a thing.  Can you give any tips?

Thanks
