Re-Coating of Burried pipes

Re-Coating of Burried pipes

Re-Coating of Burried pipes

(OP)
I'm looking for a coating repair procedure for 22" burried pipe line.Originally different sections of the pipe consist of Armathene,Plicoflex Tape, Yellow Jacket to name few.I would like to know the product to be used to recoat and application method, thickness to be achived, curing time before backfill, padding and or compaction required before backfill etc.
As i'm new to the company and to this field not sure this type of coating repaire carried out before in the company.
I have come across that , company had used Vessy,Denso and R20S20 products for coating.
Will there be one repair system covers all or else we have to look for different methods? Appreciate your input for this topic.

I'm sure there are paint coating experts in this forum.Greatly appreciate your feed back to my question if not is there  any problem the way i forward the question or else can be any other reason hope some one can explain the reasons, why i'm not getting any feed back?

RE: Re-Coating of Burried pipes

You might try a more specific question. There are many products you can use which will have a different application method, thickness, curing time, surface prep requirements etc. Different coatings have compatibility with coatings you are joining, so you will probably need a procedure for more than one type of coating. Different coatings also for different parts of the pipe, such as any fittings, different coatings for different environment etc. More specific info might help. I would suggest a two part epoxy which can be sprayed or brushed. If using any type of tape, use a tape that can pass CP through the backing as not to shield. Don't know if you are repairing local areas or in reconditioning project(s)? Company procedure you should complete yourself borrowing from manufactures specs and company experieinces/economic considerations etc.

Thanks for your feed back.I have got details from manufactures for reparing yellow jacket ang Piocoflex tape. Currently I'm in a process of writting work instructions for them. Have you come across coating type called Armathene. I have come across this in one of our gas pipe line which is over 20 years old. We got some repairs need to be carried out for this pipe line.

RE: Re-Coating of Burried pipes

Sorry, I have not come accross armathene, I would be guessing it is some sort of polyethylene wrap that you could treat like a polyken tape wrap coating.
