replication metallography
replication metallography
(OP)
I have been unsuccessful in locating a procedure for performing metallographic examination (as pertaining to seam welds on steam pipes) and then replicating the results. There is great volumes involving the use of metallographic replication, especially on EPRI's site, but no procedure(s?) for performing the polish and etch on CS or Cr-Mo piping.
Thank you in advance for any assistance!

RE: replication metallography
It is in the EPRI documents.
RE: replication metallography
Truly what I am looking for is a document that provides polishing procedures, etchant composition and selection, evaluation procedures and acceptance as a stand-alone procedure. I have not been able to locate that type of comprehensive document. Kind of what I had when I was in the Navy doing metallographic etching and examination of welder's socket weld qualifications.
I know I can find most of what I need in ASTM E3 (et al)
Just trying to avoid reinventing the wheel.
