piping

piping

(OP)
Hi,

I wonder, if there exist a more simple way of doing tubes and pipes. In Proe, you can take set of points and it will create a tube with defined bend radiuses. In UG I have to do it the way, that I create lines between points, than arcs and then again lines between arcs and the points. And then I can create pipe. Does anybody now, how to do it easier?
Thanks
Vit

RE: piping

Vit,

There's a piping module as an add on I believe if you're doing a lot of piping it may be the way to go. There is also a module for wiring harness. As I understand it the common benefit is that the drawings for both of these type of design elements are typically done using a schematic method rather than an engineering drawing geometry base representation. So find out more about that aspect if it is what you want to do.

Best Regards

Hudson

RE: piping

Look into NX Routing Mechanical to do your piping and tubing layouts. It is far more robust than the method you are using.

RE: piping

Why does one NEED to input points?  Doesn't Associative lines and arcs have their endpoints embedded in the feature itself?

I'm just curious is all...

If I create it through points, these then have expressions and can be used in the drawings in the table...

RE: piping

Associative line endpoints are stored as expressions?  I'd check but I'm not at work ATM.

RE: piping

vitulin,

The endpoints of Associative Lines are stored as expressions (1 X, 1 Y, and 1 Z value for each end).

Again, not sure if this will work for you or not, but it MIGHT be worth looking into...

I'm afraid to post too much more info at the risk of not being 100% accurate and suffering the wrath of the correction police that are now visiting here.
