Engineering drawing

Engineering drawing

(OP)

Dear all,

i was wondering if you are aware of any particular engineering drawing software (apart from CAD) capable of drawing a very simple horizontal pressure vessel?

Any suggestion would be welcome.

Thanks for your help!

Regards
Yol

RE: Engineering drawing

Hi Yol,
I'm not sure of what are you asking in regard of drafting pressure vessels;- as far as I know, there is no software to make pressure vessels drawings. There are a few specialized programs for the design of pressure vessels, like PV Elite, Compress, etc.... These programs are configured to perform calculations in accordance with a specific design code, like ASME VIII, EN 13445, etc...The software will produce in the end a sketch of the vessel configuration, which will be used for the generation of several, specialized drawings required for the definition and fabrication of the pressure vessel. These complete drawings are produced by designers on AutoCad or other similar drafting software. Can you please refine a bit your query, what you expect to get from a pressure vessel design software and how do you expect the software to produce pressure vessel drawings?
cheers,

Thank you all for taking the time to reply to my query!

gr2vessels - apologies, indeed i was not very specific.
I was given this assignment which i have to design a three-phase horizonntal separator. Luckily, i was able to find the diameter and length using settling and retention time theories/equations; and the minimum required thickness by means of mechanical design equations. Now my next task is to get and an engineering drawing according to my new-found calculations. I am really bad at drawing myself. for this reason i am looking for a simple free software online that would help me with that. Do you know of any?

Europipe - i am looking forward to trying your suggestion, i will let you know the outcome.

Greetings!

This concerns me.
By your statement of how you went about 'designing' this vessel I may be stretching but you seem quite inexperienced.
There are codes & standards to meet not 'mechanical design equations'.  I would stop work here back up and evaluate whether you are qualified to be doing this work.

As for drawings, this isn't a back of a napkin with crayons deal, there are certain detail info that needs to go on a drawing and if you don't feel comfortable drawing it by hand first, using a freeware sketch package isn't going to improve things.

I'm sorry if this sounds arrogant, but designing PV(s) isn't a freeware matter.

I agree with every single word you typed. i failed to include the appropriate terms and i want to sincerely apologise for that.
