Custom Properties help

Custom Properties help

Custom Properties help

(OP)
Hi, I've been pulling out my hair all day trying to figure out how to do this. I want to bring my custom properties from a part file over to the custom properties to the drawing file. What's the best way to do this without having to manually? thanks!

RE: Custom Properties help

Try a search in this forum for "custom properties".

RE: Custom Properties help

On the sheet properties window in the lower left there is an option "Use custom property values from model shown in" with a drop down list.
Would that work for you?

RE: Custom Properties help

I'm sorry, that is not what you were looking for, but I know you can do it because I'm looking at a drawing that is doing it right now.
I just changed all our starter template 2 weeks ago so they would take the properties from the drawings and not the models. And now I'm pulling my hair out trying to find it, it was so easy the first time.
I'll keep looking because now I'm obsesed.

RE: Custom Properties help

I found it....
It goes with my first post sort of.
When you are inserting the text and click the "link to property" icon you can select if you want it to link "to current document" or "Model in view specified in sheet properties" - default will work fine if there is only one model the drawing is made from.

Hope that helps....now I can go home.

RE: Custom Properties help

tristram,
The OP wants the Custom Properties (i.e. File > Properties ... not the drawing annotations) of the part drawing to be linked to those of the part.

cheers

I assumed he/she wanted the custom properties to populate something in the drawing, which would make copying them unnecessary, you could just use them from the model.
