replacing base component in mirror

replacing base component in mirror

Is it possible to replace the base component in a mirror? Its the same part I'm going to be replacing but has been renamed.

Thanks

Matthew

RE: replacing base component in mirror

Yes, you can do that--however I'd strongly suggest against mirroring components in an assembly.

Either copy-paste the part you need duplicated, or use the Pattern Components feature.

Mirroring in an assembly can cause issues with the entire assembly--and it renames the parts you've mirrored and adds them to the ever-growing file.

RE: replacing base component in mirror

Not sure I agree with this advice.

What I don’t like about the mirror feature is that even when the part is symmetrical, it will still get a mirror suffix! The parts orientation is the only thing that needs to be mirrored, not the parts features.

But back to my original question, where can I relink the mirror to the newly renamed base component?
