How to test the butt welding type (inlet) safety valve?
How to test the butt welding type (inlet) safety valve?
(OP)
I have a safety valve repair test job by my boss.
The inlet end connection is butt welding type.
I just have tested only flanged type safety valves.
I have no idea how to connect the butt welding end with the test bench.
The safety valve to be tested is crosby valve style HC, 4" x 6".
Let me know how to connect the inlet end with the test bench. If available, show me the connecting jig.

RE: How to test the butt welding type (inlet) safety valve?
1. We test the valve for set point only, using air.
2 We disassemble the valve and ship it to the customer to be welded inline. The valve can not be assembled during the welding process.
3 The valve is then reassembled after hydro.
4 The valve is tested in place on steam.
Why was the valve removed from the system?
RE: How to test the butt welding type (inlet) safety valve?
The valve was removed by chattering and lower reseat pressure. Then new one was replaced. And we got old valve.
we cutted the welding part and machined and tried to test the valve in our test bench for examination and our experience.
Thus we tried to weld the welding neck flange with the welding part of the safety valve. Could you advice me how to test the valve set pressure without welding the flange?
Good luck to you.
