Welding Carpenter 20 to 316L Stainless Steel

(OP)
Several Carpenter 20(Alloy 20)tubes are to be welded to a 316L stainless steel raised face pipe flange.

This is basically a P45 to a P8 weld.

Weld material for the 316L material is SFA-5.9 ER316L.

Weld material for Carpenter 20 is SFA 5.9 ER320LR.

What weld material should be used when welding Carpenter 20 to 316L stainless steel?

RE: Welding Carpenter 20 to 316L Stainless Steel

We used SFA 5.9 ER320LR for welding 316 to Carpenter 20 Cb-3 for use in a very corrosive process.

RE: Welding Carpenter 20 to 316L Stainless Steel

We've used ER320LR, ER309LMo, and ERNiCrMo-3 for these joints depending on Owner requirements.
