Air / paint flow from nozzle

Air / paint flow from nozzle

Air / paint flow from nozzle

(OP)
Hey guys,

I'm doing some air permitting work for a site installing a paint booth. I am needing to calculate the maximum possible flow rate that a paint spray guns can produce during a given time period.

I know the pressures that guns will be operating at (~30psi), and the nozzle diameter (1.6mm).

From that data I need to figure out the amount of paint usage (gpm) that the guns operate at.  No data was available from the gun manufacturers regarding the paint ~consumption.

Considering that the guns operate at an air / solvent ratio (of which I am unsure), I'm not sure what the next best step would be to get to a descent estimate?

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

RE: Air / paint flow from nozzle

ru SURE you want to calculate that?  If so, you will need the nozzle parameters and shape of the venturi.  Doesn't sound like you have it.  It will be a whole lot easier if you could just find and use application data from similar equipment.
