API 610 pumps, OH1 versus OH2 pumps

API 610 pumps, OH1 versus OH2 pumps

(OP)
Can somebody give me some usefull guidelines for when to select a single stage OH1 pump rather than an OH2 pump?

When I look into API 610 standard it seems to be decided by for example the temperature conditions - and by the fact that the OH1 type pump does not fully comply with API 610.

Some other inputs (rule of thumbs) would be appriciated very much.

Thanks in advance.

RE: API 610 pumps, OH1 versus OH2 pumps

API 610 states that centerline mounted casings should be used for all horizontal pumps. The OH1 pump is a foot mounted casing design that would more or less fit the mold of an ANSI application. Basically, if you read the fine print in API for the OH1, it would fall short or need special design considerations in both the pressure rating (section 5.3.5) and the casing support (section 5.3.11).
