Tendency of a material to oxidize
Tendency of a material to oxidize
(OP)
I need to use a metallic powder as a base metal in a brazing process. I was using copper, but it oxidizes too much at high temperatures(in the range of 800C). How can I predict what material will have a slower oxidation rate or just less oxidation? Also, is there an oxidation activation temperature range?

RE: Tendency of a material to oxidize
The standard industry approach is to use copper with a flux, atmosphere or vacuum. A good braze joint has both mechanical and chemical joining (it forms an intermetallic between the braze alloy and the base metal).
